Making the commitment to be a Core Knowledge school is a very important decision that involves a great deal of discussion among the school staff, parents, and others involved with the operations of the school.

Official School Symbol

Core Knowledge schools make the following goals:

  1. To teach all of the topics included in the Core Knowledge Sequence.
  2. To teach the topics at the grade levels assigned by the Sequence.
  3. To teach the topics to all students whenever possible, moving topics only when necessary to meet explicit state expectations.

When a school staff makes the commitment to begin implementation, we will ask you to complete a school profile form in order to include your name in the Friends of Core Knowledge Schools database. Full implementation is not required to join the network of schools, but there is an expectation that within five years full implementation will be achieved.  When full implementation has been achieved, the school is welcome to apply for Official Visitation School status.
